SALARY: R300 000 – R400 000 CTC p/a neg
DESCRIPTION / SYNOPSIS:
Opportunity for a qualified Horticulturalist, to join a World Class Agriculture company. The Breeding/Research team requires an individual with strong knowledge and experience of Breeding and Genetics, specifically relating to tree crops. As the Breeding Research Technician, you will be expected to explore new techniques and ideas, as guided by the principle plant breeder, to continually improve on breeding and assessment practices.
- BSc degree in Horticulture/Genetics or related agricultural fields
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in agricultural research
- Strong knowledge of molecular biology, breeding and genetics of Tree Crops
- Working knowledge of breeding, preferably in tree crops
- Driver’s license (Code B)
The Breeding Research Technician will be responsible for technical support of their macadamia breeding programme. This includes all aspects related to conventional plant breeding, including sowing, transplanting, crop maintenance, orchard sanitation, pollination, harvesting and evaluation, and record keeping.
