Financial Manager (Greenstone)

SALARY AND BENEFITS: R750 000 – R900 000 p/a

LOCATION:     Johannesburg East,Gauteng

DESCRIPTION / SYNOPSIS:

Our well renowned and diverse client in retail sector is looking for a well-qualified Financial Manager CA(SA)  with a minimum of 3+ years solid commercial experience. The ideal candidate will be an individual which has completed their articles and has +/- 2 – 5 years post article experience in Retail / FMCG / Medical industries. This individual will be responsible to manage their financial team of +/- 15 employees. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified CA(SA) is essential
  • Accpac Experience beneficial
  • Foreign Currency Experience
  • African Experience Beneficial
  • Advanced Excel ESSENTIAL
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure a high standard of financial accounting and reporting
  • Ensure that the company is effectively administered and to resolve day-to-day Business Financial and Administration issues
  • Implement and maintain a high standard of internal controls
  • Ensure that all systems (SRM, FRS, Accpac) are maintained without compromising financial effectiveness
  • Develop and enhance controls without compromising the required financial controls, policies and procedures whilst complying to meet the operational business needs
  • Full Finance and Administration function of the Office encompassing all corporate entities, being the management services division and subsidiaries and branches associated with the airline operations in each country the company operates in
  • Preparation of monthly reports, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, monthly and year end packs which are IFRS compliant and take into account the implications of all accounting standards
  • Monthly reporting of the entities’ results and reporting of these to the Executive and Management teams
  • Year-end results processes, including the full external audit process and the preparation of IFRS compliant packs across the Group
  • Preparation of the statutory financial reports of all legal entities within the company, including consolidated results where such are required in offshore domiciles
  • Efficient operation of the IT systems (Accpac), the sales and inventory management system (FRS), payment systems including bank interfaces and credit card devices, procurement tools (VRM and PO Projection), business intelligence tools (Insight, ProfitBase & Proclarity), the integration tools between all systems, and ensuring data integrity and accuracy across all systems
  • Management of client agreements and other operating expenses
  • Reviewing the accounting records of the business i.e. general ledger with full month end accounting process and reconciliations
  • Reviewing royalty certificates in accordance with the relevant agreements and ensuring compliance with Reserve Bank, tax and local regulations with respect to these
  • Implementation of practical internal controls and their continued effectiveness

SOFT SKILLS / ADDITIONAL INFO:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting practices, bookkeeping principles and tax
  • Good computer system capabilities (Accpac and Excel)
  • Have experience in working with Foreign Companies
  • Good business communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Delivery orientated self-starter
  • Able to work accurately under pressure
  • Ethical and honest
  • References will be done upfront

It is expected that the candidate will be comfortable in a routine administrative environment and also be able to interact and manage people effectively across the company.  Daily interaction with the operations will be required.
