Description / Synopsis
A long standing South African specialist agriculture company is offering an opportunity to a curious early - career Agronomist to join their team in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands. This is a hands-on, field- based role, suited to someone who enjoys being outdoors learning directly from experienced technical specialists and working closely with growers and forestry clients. As a smaller and dynamic business, the role offers broad exposure across technical support, sales development, field trials, and product development, with strong opportunities to grow your practical and technical skills quickly through direct involvement in projects and field work.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree /Diploma /Advanced Diploma/ BTech / BSc Hons or MSc in Agriculture, Forestry, Botany, Plant Science or a related field
- AVCASA and BASOS an advantage
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively
- Exposure to herbicides /crop protection/field trials/research beneficial
- Exposure to forestry/tree crop/row crops
- Comfortable working outdoors and engaging directly with farmers and clients
- Basic Excel Word and PowerPoint skills are advantageous
- Forestry/tree crop/row crop experience is advantageous but not essential
Responsibilities
- Provide in field technical support to forestry and agricultural clients
- Support sales development activities across the region
- Assist with field trials including setup spraying monitoring and reporting
- Participate in product development and technical evaluation work
- Build and maintain relationships with growers distributors and agents
- Engage with clients regularly and manage day to day technical queries
- Gather competitor and market insights
- Attend field days client visits and industry events
- Collaborate with senior technical and research teams
- Complete annual CropLife CPD modules
