Description/Synopsis:
An established game farm in the Eastern Cape is seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Game Farm Manager to oversee both operational management and international business development.
This unique leadership role requires a hands-on individual with strong organizational ability, practical wildlife and farm management experience, and a proven commercial track record within the hunting industry. The successful candidate will act as the link between on-site operations and international stakeholders, while actively driving revenue growth nationally and abroad.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience in game farm or wildlife management.
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated revenue generation ability.
- Established international network within the hunting industry.
- Experience sourcing and securing international hunting clients.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally and attend hunting conventions and trade shows.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including engagement with international stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license.
Main Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee and coordinate daily farm operations.
- Manage and supervise the farm manager couple and general workforce.
- Plan and monitor activities including fence maintenance, feeding, pruning, and overall property upkeep.
- Monitor wildlife populations, track numbers, and identify potential health concerns.
- Maintain relationships with wildlife suppliers, meat buyers, taxidermists, and relevant service providers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Netherlands-based owners.
Commercial Development & Revenue Generation:
- Actively generate revenue by sourcing and securing national and international hunting clients.
- Leverage an established international hunting network to attract clients.
- Attend international hunting conventions and trade shows independently or with directors.
- Build and maintain relationships with outfitters, negotiating commission or revenue-sharing agreements.
- Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities to expand the farm’s national and international footprint.
