Description/Synopsis:
A reputable commercial vehicle finance group is looking for a Financial Reporting & Tax specialist.
This role is ideal for a technically strong accounting professional who thrives in a structured, policy-driven environment and enjoys being a trusted technical resource to the broader business. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, taxation, internal controls, and continuous improvement initiatives within a global financial services organisation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified CA(SA) essential
- 3–5 years’ post article experience in an Accounting or Financial Reporting role
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and South African accounting principles
- Experience with SAP beneficial
- Solid understanding of South African Tax Law (VAT, Income Tax, Provisional Tax)
- Exposure to auditing and internal controls
- Knowledge of B-BBEE legislation (advantageous)
Main Responsibilities:
Technical Accounting
- Ensure accounting records comply with IFRS and company policies
- Stay current with IFRS amendments and support implementation of new standards
- Prepare technical accounting position papers for management review
- Maintain documentation for unique and complex accounting transactions
- Act as a technical accounting expert and support to the business
- Drive continuous improvement of accounting policies and procedures
- Post journal entries in SAP in line with company 4EP
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements
Taxation
- Prepare and submit VAT, provisional tax, and income tax returns to SARS
- Manage SARS correspondence, audits, and queries
- Obtain and maintain relevant tax clearance certificates
- Stay up to date with South African tax legislation and best practices
Portfolio Reconciliations & Manufacturing Leases
- Perform monthly portfolio reconciliations
- Reconcile manufacturing leases with industrial partners
- Ensure manufacturing leases are accurately recorded on a monthly basis
General Ledger & Posting Book Management
- Monitor CMS accounting posting books for errors or required changes
- Liaise with IT to ensure timely CMS updates
- Maintain and optimise the General Ledger structure
- Ensure correct GL allocations and account clearings in line with IFRS
Other Duties
- Daily cash management review
- Internal control assessment cycle management
- Finance-related B-BBEE reporting tasks
- Ad-hoc finance and accounting support as required
